Seven Words

Someone needs to hear this right now.

You are in a situation right now and you feel like you are stuck there. You feel as if there is no easy way out of it. It almost seems hopeless because you are afraid of failing or you are worried about how it will affect other people or what they will think of you.
“Just get out of it. Walk away”, your friends and family say. And I know you. We have all responded this way…”Its easier said than done. You don’t know my situation”.

Here is what God showed me this morning. The first step is to open your eyes to how bad it is. God will do this for you. When Jesus was presented with the blind man, he didn’t just tell the man to open his eyes and he would see. And He didn’t tell the man to rub some mud on his eyes so that he could regain his eyesight. Jesus did it for him! God opened the eyes and made the man realize that there is a better way of life. In fact, if you are in the situation you are in and wanting to get out, God has probably already opened your eyes to what it really is.

Now, that your eyes have been opened, the next step is to walk away. This is the part that is easier said than done. And that is because YOU have to do it.

John 5: 5-8

“5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.”

See the difference? This man felt like there was no way out. He was waiting on someone to do it for him. Maybe someone had seen him laying there and told him just to get up. Easier said than done.
But this time, Jesus didn’t give the man mud. He never even touched the man. He simply looked at him, asked him if he wanted a better life. Then Jesus said seven short words…….“Rise, take up your bed and walk.”

Jesus handed that man the reigns to his own life. He put him behind the wheel. He gave the man the power and authority to get out of what appeared to be a hopeless situation. But, we all know that nothing is impossible with God.

Jesus did not grab him by the hand, lift him up and take him out of it. He told the man that HE would have to take the first step. He would have to to rise up and leave the hopeless situation behind him. The farther he walked away, the smaller the problem became in the rear view mirror. And eventually, it would be gone forever.rear view mirror

Listen to me right now. God is telling me to tell you this. RISE UP!! You have been given the power to walk away! You don’t have to wait on someone else to make it happen. You don’t have to look for someone to help you get up and get out. You can do it based on the power of what Jesus did! You can make it just as easily DONE as SAID! I will say it again! RISE UP!

  1. Sure isn’t easy to get up making choses at this age. Seems like it gets harder the older you get. One thing i think more on now is what does God think about a decision being made ? I decided that if i do move then if it’s a mistake I’ll learn from it. Thank you for your friendship and your stories. They can be such a blessing!
